![]() Short game Practice Area Initial discussions are taking place on developing a short game practice area comprising driving nets, a, chipping and putting green and a bunker. This would be located where the old tennis courts used to be - an area now used by the croquet players. The croquet area would be relocated to the where the practice putting green is now which may include area for bowls. The project was identified as being a priority earlier in the year and an estimate of costs is being prepared. We are fortunate in having access to Bob Harrison, of Harrison Golf. Bob is a member and we have approached him to help in the development of the concept. ![]() a strategic plan Over the past few months a strategic plan for our club has been under preparation. The last strategic plan was prepared in 2005 and conditions have changed substantially since then. Why have a strategic plan? This is best answered by a couple of quotations: - “What do you want to achieve or avoid? The answers to this question are objectives. How will you go about achieving your desired results? The answer to this, you can call strategy.” These words provide a nearly exact description of the differences between the business plan and the strategic plan. William E Rothschild “Planning is an unnatural process; it is much more fun to do something. And the nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression.” John Harvey Jones my favorite | ![]() Golf Australia, Federal and State Governments all recommend the development of a Strategic Plan. A quote from the Federal Government: "Planning the business of your organisation is an integral part of the role of your Board, Committee and management to provide the strategy direction necessary for long-term growth and prosperity of the organisation." In the Strategic Plan will be the values, goals, directions and priorities that we, the members and staff of our club, will pursue together over the next 4 years. In developing the plan input and comment from stakeholders will be sought and considered to ensure that all aspirations and opportunities are evaluated. At the moment this is in its initial stages and comment is being sought from a small group before seeking comment from the membership as a whole. |
